I don’t lock the doors at night
Not because I live in a safe part of town
Not because I’m not afraid
No because I have an immense amount of faith
Not because of the knowledge that there’s a season that even contains my death
I don’t lock the doors at night
Not because I’m inviting the fearful intruder to come cause bodily harm and take all of my worldly goods
No
I don’t lock the doors at night
Because it wouldn’t impinge my getaway plan
I need to escape
I need to get away
My need to break free
From anything that a lock could never protect anyway
I don’t lock my doors at night
So the morning can come anytime it feels like it
And bring what it may
Regardless of any kind of weather accompanying it
I don’t lock the doors at night
May the grace of all that is holy
forgive me for ever even shutting the door
on anything that has the possibility
of everything that never has a sum
of nothing
or worse
the feeling of all unequal parts
behind any safe illusion
a locked door
holds
We all have a need to feel

don’t we. . .

but hopefully not to a town near you
or outside of your (UN)LOCKED Door
I recently read a post from a friend
who said,
EVERY PERSON I KNOW WHO OWNS A GUN JUST WANTS TO FEEL SAFE
EVERY PERSON I KNOW WHO WANTS GUNS REGULATED WANTS TO FEEL SAFE. . .
MAY THIS BRING US
A CONNECTEDNESS
that can’t be hidden behind any door
(UN)LOCKED
and may the

in each of us
bring it forth

The Voice is a powerful thing. . .
YOUR VOICE is a most powerful thing. . . .
Are you ever really surprised with technology?

We’ve really only scratched the surface.
Seriously, less than twenty years ago–
W E H A D N O N E O F I T !
The human voice can now, literally,
O P E N D O O R S,
even without saying,
“O P E N S E S A M E.”
Locks that required no keys are now opened by the sound of a person’s voice. A Compact unit with a built-in microphone that you can’t even begin to see, and almost not even imagine, is installed near the door. The unit is programmed to respond only to the owner’s voice. To open the lock, the person punches in the ID number and says a password. In less than a blink of the eye, the unit determines whether the voice is the right one, and if it is…
OPENS THE DOOR–Abracadabra!
What makes this sort of lock workable and secure is that people’s voices are as individual as fingerprints. No one trying to imitate the owners voice will be able to fool the unit, because individual voice patterns just cannot be duplicated. It also won’t respond to a recording; it can distinguish a real voice from a recorded one.
Real Sci-fy stuff, huh?
Here’s the REAL deal. . .
the person whose voice sounds differently because of a cold or the like, is in no danger of being locked out. Distinctive voice patterns remain.
G E T T H I S :
Your Voice is always important.
Words of encouragement
can open new vistas of hope
for a friend and for a friend to be. . .
YOUR VOICE MATTERS;
It’ll open up doors
that NOTHING else can or will.
Go ahead. . .
Give IT a try:
“Wow, you look great today.”
“Thanks for being here.”
“Appreciate all you do.”
“You’re the Best”
“You mean so much to so many”
“I may have been able to do it without you, but not as easily”

Sure, it has the power to open doors. . .
