What a Play. . .
DEAR EVAN HANSEN:
A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he’s always wanted:
A CHANCE TO FINALLY FIT IN. . .
That’s what the Playbill spouts and it goes on to promise that this 2017 Tony Winner of the Best Musical Play is both a deeply personal and profoundly contemporary musical about life and the way we live it. . .
The Best part?
Despite winning the Tony Awards and copping a Grammy, the musical and lyrics have helped start discussions and awareness of mental illness and youth suicide. . .

Hello Chuck..I just read your article …..profound! We saw the play in Toronto on
Saturday and it was so moving and spot on with respect to the issues many young
People are struggling with. My oldest granddaughter Olivia is 16. In the four months since Christmas she has lost 60lbs. This process has been both good and
bad. She needed to loose weight, definitely, but the motivation I believe was her
attraction to a boy. THere were some issues with her not eating at all for a couple
Days periodically, drastic change in personality (she was no longer happy Olivia),
sullen some of the time and argumentative. These issues and behaviour have stopped, but I can fully relate to this play. I do find reading you each morning
gives me a little bit of peace, and insight into Olivia’s mindset. She is doing so
much better in the last few weeks…being a parent these days is sometimes like
navigating a mind field! I’m glad I’m her Nana and just give her an ear and lots
hugs and kisses. I suppose I am rambling…again thank you for your insight and
wisdom. Viv
