Cleveland Indians
and the
Chicago Cubs
are in a historic World Series
because neither of them have actually

H I S T O R I C
It looks like just a regular film clip
of an old Yankee newsreel, doesn’t it. . .
Would you take another thirty seconds to look at it again?
It’s way more than just Al Gionfriddo
robbing the great Joe DiMaggio
of a home run. . .
It was October 5, 1947
and it was the 6th game of the World Series. . .
Al Gionfriddo was a utility outfielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers. . .
HE WAS NOT
even supposed to start that day. . .
In fact, he was even pinched hit for
but not before the 6th inning. . .
It was then, in the bottom of the 6th inning
when the Yankees had two men on with
Joe DiMaggio coming to the plate. . .
DiMaggio hit a blast that soared towards left field. . .
Everyone in the park knew it was a home run
and the Yankees were about to take the lead. . .
Everyone except Al Gionfriddo. . .
He came, seemingly out of nowhere
to reach over the fence
and robbed DiMaggio of his home run blast. . .
Look closely at the little film clip
and you’ll see something that you seldom ever saw in any situation:
JOE DIMAGGIO showing some form of emotion.
Just as he was arriving at 2nd base
in what he thought was a home run jog,
he saw Gionfriddo reach over the fence
and rob him of what was his, the Yankees and the New York crowd.
And then. . .
he KICKED THE DIRT !
This short little clip holds a message for us all. . .
Baseball,
World Series fan,
DiMaggio lover:
WHEN YOU SHOW UP. . .
ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!

The One that gets played everyday. . .
Your participation just isn’t requested. . .
IT’S NECESSARY. . .
