DO YOU KNOW ONE?
ARE YOU ONE?
I hadn’t even heard the term until yesterday afternoon during a Spiritual Care Coordinators Discipline Meeting. Dr. Kevin Dieter, a hospice doctor gave a presentation about Palliative Sedation/Management of Symptoms Intervention and began with this term. . .
And then I began asking those first two questions:
DO YOU KNOW ONE?
ARE YOU ONE?
An empath is a person who has the ability to feel the emotional state of another individual. There are many different types of empaths, however, Heyoka empaths may be the most spiritually attuned of them all.
What is a H e y o k a ?
‘Heyoka’ is a Native American word meaning ‘sacred clown’ or ‘fool’. This term is apt because it describes the way Heyoka use light humorous energies to open people’s minds and to heal. They work almost by tricking or joking with people.
This kind of empath sees life differently. They understand that sometimes the only way shift people’s thinking is to startle them out of it. They do this by showing them a completely different way of looking at things, often the complete opposite way.
The healing of a Heyoka is important, but they don’t take life too seriously. Heyoka empaths also behave as a mirror, reflecting other people’s behavior back to them so others can see themselves in a new way and begin to heal.
What do Heyokas do?
In Native American ceremonies, the Heyoka’s role would be to disrupt things in order to enable people to see things differently. This kind of empaths uses the energy of the sacred clown to open people’s eyes to new possibilities and different angles on a situation. They also have the ability to shift the energy of a group through their understanding of emotions.
Modern day Heyoka Empaths will often say or do something to shift energy and change perceptions. This allows others to begin to see clearly and heal. This kind of empath doesn’t heal in a conventional way, with crystals, their hands or through spirits. Instead, they create the space for others to become more aware of how they are behaving and thus heal themselves.
Heyoka empaths often heal through chaos and disruption. This is not always an easy or peaceful healing. However, it may be necessary for those completely stuck in a way of thinking that does not serve them.
Because Heyoka are empaths, they understand the emotions of others and are, therefore, able to provide the healing method suited to the individual’s needs. They might not heal someone completely all at once, however, he or she can lead someone through the next step on their journey to wholeness.
How do you know if you are a Heyoka?
Traditional signs that you are a Heyoka include being born breech, being dyslexic, being emotionally unpredictable, doing things backwards, being left-handed and thinking differently to others.
If you can feel other people’s emotions and instinctively know what they need to heal, you may be a Heyoka. You may also notice that when you have a deep conversation with someone, they often experience life-changing insights.
Perhaps you help people to heal through humor, or point out the ridiculous nature of a situation, in which case, you are using Heyoka energy. If you often find people are surprised or shocked by what you say or do, but then come round to your way of thinking and are able to move forward in their lives, then you are most certainly a Heyoka. . .

I find this very interesting, I want to know more. Thank you for this information.
How does one find a Heyoka.
ChuckBehrens says
FINDING A HEYOKA is both no easy answer and the easiest one at the same time because I believe that HEYOKA is in each of us and shows forth JUST EXACTLY when we need to not only see it, but EXPERIENCE IT…keep searching, KEEP ACCEPTING

ChuckBehrens comment is BS. Heyoka is not in everyone. Plus the fact that Heyoka is only the native American title. All cultures have Heyokas, but different titles. A true Heyoka would never boast about being Heyoka. Hell, if someone were true Heyoka they would not wish it upon anyone because being Heyoka means you will have MANY,MANY enemies so you need to be quick on your feet and quick in your intuition. It’s the most difficult path to walk. It feels as though it’s a curse, yet I feel the more they get attacked, the stronger they become!!

Thank you for your comments and mostly for the education. Please know it was never my attention to insult or slight anyone only to bring a little enlightenment, which you have added. Thank you, again. My Best for your BEST!

I disagree. Modern heyoka does not outwardly embrace their true nature as societal constraints limits them. They learn when to allow their gift to thrive, and when they must not. This is often why they live a very hard life of internal war. They so strongly want to be naked and themselves at all times, but they simply cannot. They can often be perceived as snooty and manipulative because they must hold back soo much. A self controlled, skilled heyoka will selectively let loose their gift. When they do allow their true nature out, if they are not careful, it can be a stark difference to the mask they wear and ppl run fast without knowing why. A skilled Modern Heyoka can often be loved by many because they have the normal empath presence that draws ppl to them, but they have learned how to hold back the part of their gift that can be uncomfortable others. In essence, they choose when to show heyoka, and when to only show intuitive empath.

Thank you TheCaringCatalyst for the beautiful on-the-point article contrasting all the blah blah and inaccurate versions out there!
This is one of the most accurate, yet still simple for all to understand article i have come across!
And btw, only the word “the” in your blog’s name does not indicate a heyoka.
Both “caring” and “catalyst” do.
Noone ever really is, until their catalyst arrives and what is a heyoka if not the extremity of empathy?
Extremists… everyone hates those right?
Not me… i loved your article!

I appreciate this article. I did want to give some insight of my own experiences in congruence with this piece.
I am a modern day Heyoka Empath and an Indigo Child. I was a white belt with my ways a year ago when I had my spiritual awakening at the age of 34. What I mean by that is that I have 2 parents with Muncheasan Proxy who medicated me improperly from when I became bed ridden depressed but never suicidal in my senior year of high school until last year. For my entire life, I had so many unique and unusual gifts that I was not sure what to call, or get to truly know or grow because they were always were dulled down tremendously. I will just say that I went thru literal hell to break the cycle, the only one I had known for nearly 18 years. I stopped talking pills that were not for me. And as someone who can turn my actual dreams into fruition as I have been since the age of 3 to 16pre BigPharma, it began to happen again at 34, but I was so overwhelmed that I overdid it. As the sacred clown and mirror that I am, I infuriated many people. But I learned how to properly channel my abilities.
Since last year, I drew in.many people who.were suicidal and women mainly with borderline personality mainly stemming from abuse they received of all kinds at very young amd vulnerable ages. I helped.many of them grow, which helped me to grow as well from my own trauma.
We are REAL. But, as heyokas and as an indigo child, like any other abilities others have, we need to fine tune out divine gifts, and most of all we need to emotions COMPASSION into the universe.

I’m in my mid life and am just now starting to understand that I am 101 percent positive I’m a Heyoka Empath. I was left feeling bipolar, and I was not excepted, posts like this has changed my life. I now feel like my mind is not lll, because everything I felt and knew, is a real thing.
