Did you see it?
I don’t normally watch 60 Minutes on Sunday’s…mostly because I rarely am able to put 60 minutes together consecutively…I didn’t last Sunday either; but you know what “THEY” say: “Timing is everything.”
I was REMOTELY switching through some channels when I chanced upon a 60 Minutes expose as it started…pure chance or….
It featured 104 year old Nicholas Winton. He was a young stockbroker in 1938 and he was severely distressed as he watched Hitler’s Germany march its way across Eastern Europe. When he was in Prague for a vacation he thought, “Someone should do something?” and he thought even more decisively, “Hey, I AM SOMEONE!”
With absolutely no authority, no government sanctions, no community support, certainly no Crowdfunding or any real legal means, he arranged for some 669 Jewish children out of the country and most certain death into England.
Of course, it was THIS QUESTION everyone, I, wanted to Scream: “W H Y?”
I was so captured by his remark that, with remote in hand, I replayed it over and over again and then frame by frame as I wrote down his response:
“I’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT IF SOMETHING IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, THERE MUST BE A WAY TO DO IT!”
And there ladies and gentleman of the worldwide-show-up-everyday-for-jury-duty-turned-quickly-to-gavel-yielding-Judge YOU HAVE IT!
What I believe we not all actually WANT but absolutely NEED:
60 Minutes in 30 Seconds!
In a World that wants everything in blink-in-the-eye quickness, we actually get IT!
But IT means little doesn’t it, unless we, in our own ways, in our own time, NOW dare to become a Nicholas Winton in our own individual places?
Dare to not only take the 60 Minutes completely, powerfully illustrated in 30 seconds…DARE to Change, to be more than you’ve been your whole life, to actually Be THAT Someone and act.
Now…QUICK…C H A N G E the Channel and ACT on it.
Here’s to OUR Compassion, Our Love, always being more of Verbs than mere Nouns!
