O N C E A S U C K E R. . .
I just did a

It’s just been a year ago that I was a full-fledge-card-carrying
S U C K E R
and more. . .
became one again and again and again
ON 110% INTENTIONAL PURPOSE
for no other reason than
J U S T B E C A U S E
So. . .
Just what kind of a
S U C K E R
are you?
Just a year ago
I sold my 2007 Honda Civic to a young 19 year old man
and financed it for him;
It took him nearly 6 months to pay me back in full. . .
but he did. . .
G R A N T E D:
Out of all of the jobs I’ve had in my life
and out of some of the ones I still wouldn’t mind having. . .
the safest bet is me not becoming
A U S E D C A R S A L E S M A N
. . .ironically
I became a maverick free-agent
U S E D C A R S A L E S M A N
For four years
my 2007 Honda Civic sat in our driveway
and because of Erin’s bouts of epilepsy
it was doubtful she will be driving anytime soon. . .
Hence, the sale of the Honda;
I had many leads
but there was one young man, who after test driving the car
sent me a text:
R E M E M B E R:
I never wanted to be a
U S E D C A R S A L E S M A N. . .
I thought then
I THINK NOW:
There’s three kind of people in the world:
A SUCKER
. . .literally being taken in and discarded without any second thought
A SAVOR’ER
One who sucks every lick of sweetness
and leaves not one slurp of tastiness behind. . .
A CHEWER
one who gobbles everything and everyone up in its wake
so you can get to the NEXT ONE
. . .just what kind of S U C K E R
are You. . . ?
If this blog post
was a determining factor of what this
sorry excuse of a
U S E D C A R S A L E S M A N
was to do,
would you have directed me to:
R E J E C T H I S O F F E R
A C C E P T H I S O F F E R
M O D I F Y H I S O F F E R
. . .I remember when met young Brandon
at the Bank to transfer the Title over to him
with a Notary. . .
He gave me $2000.00 Cash
and we both signed a promissory note of him paying up to six monthly payments
until his debt was paid off. . .
He honored it. . .
Would I have made him. . . ?
Should I now give up all other pursuits and become a full-time
U S E D C A R S A L E S M A N
. . .W A I T. . .
I just remembered I left him a little envelope with a
CHEESECAKE FACTORY GIFT CARD
congratulating him on his new purchase and wishing him
the blessings and good fortune
I experienced with the 2007 Honda
J U S T B E C U S E
I wanted him to know
that there are good people in the world
I N S P I T E
of the fact that someone had previously sold him a real lemon. . .
I wanted him to

I remember when he pulled into my drive way in March to make his last payment it was already getting dark out. When he got out of the car and gave me his last cash installment in an envelope, we shook hands. He didn’t look me square in the eye, but maybe because there was a glistening tear there he wanted to go unnoticed. Shaking my hand he said, “I hope to do for some kid one day what you did for me.”
I shook his hand a little harder and thanked him for allowing me to be a little selfish
“S E L F I S H, how were you selfish?”
“Because I can’t remember the last time something made me feel so good about myself. So thank you, Brandon. Thank you.”
It’s been a year ago. . .
This old SUCKER still feels pretty selfish. . .
What kind of SUCKER are you?
